All three photo's are wonderful. Will these pieces be on the "Black Pearl" for Pirates 3? I'm going to see the movie in the theatre just to see your work. Do you use gouges for shaping?...and do you sand this stuff? :D

The stern peice of Netune will be. Not sure about the Organ.
I use different tools for foam. Some are custum, and others are regular clay tool that are looped with teeth. I sand the foam with sanding pads that you would find in the paint department at Home Depot or any other construction like store. I cut with saws and a sawzall with a spiral wire attached to it to cut the main shape- front and profile- then remove the square edges, useing the loop tools i then shape, files and rasps can be used for details, sanding at the finish of it all. 4 pound polyurathane has more density than other foams , so it enables a nicer finish and is less likely to get damaged by just pushing into it.

Thank you. I enjoy sculpting for films like this. Sometimes it can be very hard work, long hours, and not as glamorous as you would think.

We were flipping channals last night and found "Pirates...Dead mans chest" Your work was beautiful but recieved too little screen time. I guess that you have to have the details even if it is on screen for a split second because our little brains register all of the scene. My wife went to get some water and I'm yelling, "the organs on, the organs on." Great work...much fun... made better knowing who made the wonderful details. :D
