Stern of the "Black Pearl" from 'Pirates 2'.
Carved in 4 pound yellow foam ,2 other people assisted me.took 3 weeks to carve.

Thanks so much . Wish I worked more , but thats the way the bizz is right now . I went to Art school in Florida. Moved out to California many moons ago. Worked in an art store and used to ask the sculptors if they needed an assitant . One day one said yes . I met people who did the same thing and got networking . Some one suggested I join the Union , and I did . The rest is history . Thanks and I hope you go far in your goals ! Take care .

I LOVE it when I find the actual artist of things I adore on DA. I just have to tell you, these were some of my favorite POTC things, and I'm so glad to know who did them and how. Awesome work!!!

That's incredible.... Did you come up with the idea yourself our did they render a drawing? Also did you happen to carve the "spirit head" at the front of the ship as well?

Most all art comes from the art directors and production artist. They gave me a sketch , and I put a little of my own into it . It was done with me and 2 other artist . I worked on the Figurehead in first one , but someone else did the figurehead in second .

It's kind of sad to see this amaing piece which was so much work, and then it's only in the movie for a few seconds and people take it all for granted..
still it is an amazing piece!
out of interest, do you decorate your home with sculptures like these^^?
If I knew how to sculpture thinks I would :P
